New Faces, New Places, New Adventures: I Can Belong to a Group

Over the past few weeks, we have been busy connecting and building relationships.

We started by saying hello to some familiar faces before heading out on home visits as we welcomed lots of new  families to Nursery 1.

Our St. Paul’s Promise “I can belong to a group” has been at the heart of our learning so far.

We have been spending time together as a group and exploring our new classroom together with our families. This has helped us to feel confident as we come to play, learn and explore each day.

Curious Minds and Confident Choices: I Know I am a Great Learner

Over the weeks we have been exploring our space and learning how to spend time in the different areas as a group.

We have been curious about the different resources, toys and spaces Nursery 1, the garden and studio have to offer.

We have also capitalised on the smaller spaces in our room to make dens and nests.

We have had lots of first experiences and have loved wallowing in different sensory opportunities. Water, sand and playdough have been the firm favourites!

By nurturing our St. Paul’s Promise “I know I am a great learner” we have been embedding our routine, making plans and collaborating with others.

From Pumpkin Patches to Puddle Splashes: I use all My Senses to engage in Scientific Enquiry

What fun we have had with water this term!

Inside we have explored colouring mixing and focused on teeny tiny water droplets with pipettes. Outside we have been mixing sand and water together to make soup, potions and cakes galore!

We noticed water forming in puddles around the garden, capitalised on resources around us to make them even bigger before jumping and splashing!

We practiced turn taking and experimented with different blocks to make steps to jump off.

This week Nursery 1 have also been fascinated with pumpkins.

We have explored pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, painting them, and creating our own. There have been some fascinating questions about what lies inside the pumpkin with different theories about seeds and stones.
