Settling In

Welcome to Our 2’s families that have recently joined us, It was wonderful to meet you all at home and Nursery to find out all about you and your children, the new questions really opened up conversations and a deeper level of thinking about us as people, Families and our lived experiences. It was so nice to hear your histories, Interests and family beliefs.

The children have settled in so well, they are managing such big changes in their lives and everything is so different and new for them. We are feeling very proud of their resilience to overcome this challenge. The existing children have done and incredible job also in helping to nurture and welcome their new peers , checking in, showing empathy and building connections.

We are feeling proud of all of our 2’s!

Our St. Paul’s Curriculum is full of Promises that support setting in:  “I know my own uniqueness and embrace diversity” , “I can connect with the wider world” , “I can belong to a group” , “I can express and manage my feelings” , “I know I am a great learner”

Sand, Sand Glorious Sand there’s nothing quite like it when we get New Sand!

Who would have thought a delivery of new sand could bring so many new thoughts and ideas to life?

Did you know that the brown sand is chocolate, beige sand is vanilla and the very new sand is the vanilla sprinkles !

The children have spent time talking, working together and collaborating to collect ingredients, tools and make a plan of their amazing cakes, we contributed , “here’s some eggs” , “ I got flour”.

We dug, scooped, poured , moulded and mixed.

We discussed layers, colours, shades.

Then we cut our cakes into segments and slices as we all shared the cake giving some to each other.

Our St. Paul’s Curriculum supports children’s creativity, imagination and playful exploration Expressive Art and Design : Be creative thinkers

Find out!

We have spotted lot and lots of Helicopter seeds on the floor that have fallen from our trees.

The adults have demonstrated and modelled what happens when we throw the seeds back in the air.

So up, up, up! Children have launched the seeds and watched them as they fall spinning round and around, or fly away in the wind.

We have also noticed that the trees and shrubs around our garden are changing colour, so we have been busy collecting just like squirrels.

Can you remember that some of the words we used to describe what we found?

 Brown

Red

Crispy

Smooth

Spikey

Do you remember making “Nature Crowns” too?
