We Love Maths!

Maths is movement.

We’re making BIG BIG leaps in the garden.

We’re calculating the distance between logs before we leap.

And making sure our bodies are in the right place to make it across!

Maths is finding little spaces to go in and out.

Can I fit safely through that gap?

Is there room for me?

Maths is spatial reasoning.

How do I fit these blocks together to make new bigger shapes.

We’re discovering that two squares become a rectangle!

Some shapes are round.

Some shapes have pointy corners.

We’re making long lines and tall towers.

And building tall towers, knocking it down, building it up again.

Going UP! UP! UP!

Maths is movement.

Moving objects and making arrangements.

Lining them up.

Thinking about quantity and comparison.

Thinking about more and more and more.

Our St. Paul’s Curriculum supports children to learn all about shape, space, measure and pattern.

Autumn Investigations

Brrrrrr!

We have noticed the change in weather.

We have noticed the rain.

And collected the rain in the builders tray.

Splash! Splash! Splash! with our hands.

Brrrrr!  The water’s cold!

And the cold means we’re wearing coats in the garden too.

It’s the time of year for Pumpkins isn’t it.

Can we pick them up?

The BIG ones are heavy… so so heavy!

Such “huff and puff” in our day.

Let’s be curious, let’s look inside.

What do you think we found?

So slimy and slippery!

So seed-filled!

Come and look inside.

Our St. Paul’s Promise “I use all my senses to engage in scientific enquiry” supports children to observe question, experiment and test.

Down at the Farm

We love exploring our community and visiting familiar places, lots of the babies visit the farm with their families, so we are very confident to explore and tell each other everything we can see!

There are lots of plants growing at the farm, we looked closely and found some tomatoes, they’re growing! The green ones aren’t ready yet!

Our St. Paul’s Promise “I connect with the wider world” supports children to explore their communities, to notice and comment  on what they see and hear.
