Into the Woods!
This term, the children have been adventuring into the woods in Purple Group.
Our St. Paul’s Promise, I am a big bold mover!, helps the children explore moving their bodies in different ways. In the woods, the children have been climbing trees, crawling, scrambling up and down ditches, and taking risks. We are resilient explorers!
Our St. Paul’s Promise, I connect with the wider world, helps children respond and communicate about their community and experiences; Purple group have been mapping out our journey, observational drawings of forest treasures and connecting our adventures with our Core Story ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt. We know we are great learners in the woods!

Making our Mark!
We are becoming experts at using crayons… layering colours… round and round… up and down…Our St. Paul’s Promise, “I can use marks to communicate meaning,” helps the children mark-make and write for a wide range of purposes. The children have been noticing their own uniqueness through self-portraits, celebrating who we are—creating precious messages to bring home to our much-loved families and capturing our memories and experiences.

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom!
Zooming, racing, constructing, collaborating. We are engineers! In Nursery 1, we have been investigating ramps. Our St. Paul’s Promise, I can solve problems when I get stuck, helps children to remember things they have learnt before and stratgies that helped them as well as reflect on how well things are going and change strategy when needed. We have been solving problems when we are stuck…the cars are falling off the edge? Let’s add bumpers! My car is too wide now…Let’s widen the ramp with more planks! We have been resourceful, resilient and reflective. Through our ramps we have been exploring angles, height, speed, length to develop our mathematical understanding.

Stirring Up Joy
We’ve been stirring up joy and flavour in our kitchen each week — children working side by side to create delicious dishes from scratch. From flatbreads brushed with herby butter to rainbow vegetable fritters, banana flapjacks, and apple crumble, every recipe has become a new adventure. Our St.Paul’s Promise “I can be healthy and make healthy choices for my body” helps children to enjoy a wide variety of food and what is healthy food. Through chopping, grating, mixing, and (of course!) tasting, we’re exploring colourful fruits and vibrant vegetables while learning how to make choices that keep our bodies happy and strong.
Next term, we hope to open our kitchen doors to families — to join us in our culinary adventures, sharing their favourite recipes and the stories that make them so special.
