We have been noticing the children had been showing interest in the marks they had been making. We thought it would be nice to plan different provocations with mark-making set up in the morning. The children made marks independently or alongside other children.

They learnt to negotiate which part of the foil, papers and box they wanted to paint on. The children responded well to the invitation to explore the paints.

They became very absorbed as they chose which paint to use.

Some children even became interested in painting parts of the body or clothing.
