Gymnastic Fantastic!
Our bodies are such brilliant tools aren’t they.
Whoosh!
Boing!
Roly-Poly!
Push-and-Pull!
We have been confidently exploring the garden.
Stretching onto the bars with legs and arms.
Pulling and pushing our bodies up over the A-frame.
Rolling our tummies over the balancing beams.
Balancing on boards with arms out wide to help us rock and jump.
And really challenging ourselves to “have a go”, “try something new” and take risks in our learning.
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I am a Big Bold Mover” helps us be adventurous and rise to physical challenge.

Puzzle Power
We’ve got “Puzzle Power”!
Developing our Spatial Reasoning – all of the shape, space, measure, estimation, visualisation involved in working out “does it fit here?” – is essential for the development of early maths.
And we do love maths!
Puzzles are brilliant to help children to notice and talk about different shapes, to experiment with how things fit together as they rotate the pieces round in their hands, and develop their visualisation – how things look in their “mind’s eye” – as they “see” what shape will fit into the empty space.
Noticing and talking about the attributes of objects (are they big, small, sharp, smooth, round, square, shiny, bubbly) helps children develop great early maths skills.
Puzzles are a great way to talk about pattern and change… and to compare different objects to each other.
All really important maths skills and knowledge.
O! We do love maths!

Our Hair, our Skin
“Where do I see myself?” is a question we’ve been thinking about – and how we support children to see themselves and their families in Nursery.
And we’ve been really thinking and talking together about our equalities work – about race equality.
And how we support children to know their uniqueness and celebrate the diversity of their many communities.
Children have really noticed the differences and similarities in the hair and skin on our dolls.
Connection and curiosity have drawn children to notice and talk about the dolls and how the skin as they brush and wash the dolls and babies.
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I know my own uniqueness and celebrate diversity” helps us make connections, share experiences, listen to others, celebrate uniqueness and difference.

We are Storytellers!
We do love stories.
And children hear and retell stories every day.
Do you know “Mudwalk”?
It’s one of our favourites!
It’s full of delight and humour as animals jump joyfully into the mud… but have to get rescued by aMrs. Wishy-Washy and her tractor.
And of course, the animals have to all get washed.
We love the repetition of the words and how the words sound
“Wish-washy, wishy-washy”!
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I am an inspired and inspiring storyteller” helps us imitate, innovate and invent stories.
It helps us explore
The sounds and songs of stories
The poetry and pretend of stories
The rhyme, rhythm and alliteration of the words
We do love stories!
