Out and About!
This term, we have ventured out to our local post box to post letters — a small walk with a very big purpose. We have been thinking about mark making for meaning, giving our children the full experience of writing, posting, and (we hope!) receiving their very own letters. Watching a carefully folded piece of paper disappear into the red post box — a mark transformed into a message, sent out into the world.
Our St. Paul’s Promise, “I can use marks to communicate meaning” has come to life as children have been given real opportunities to mark make with intention and purpose. And through our promise, “I connect with the wider world,” we are supporting children to see themselves as active members of our local community — explorers of pavements, post boxes and people.
We Keep on Growing!
Our plants and growing provocations continue to flourish. Our bean plants have now been transferred to the allotment, where they are tended with love and care by the children. We have been busy watering, weeding, and stringing up the beans.
Our sunflowers are now germinating too, and we have very high hopes for their towering futures!
Through our St. Paul’s Promise, “Using all my senses to engage in scientific enquiry,” we have been watching, wondering, and observing the steady — and sometimes surprising — changes in our plants. Tiny shoots, curling tendrils, unfurling leaves: nature’s quiet lessons in growth.
We are also learning to be resilient gardeners. When our bean plants were nibbled by our resident minibeasts, we didn’t give up. We investigated, adapted, and salvaged what we could. Even in the garden, perseverance matters.

Food, Glorious Food!
This term we have delighted in spending as much time as possible in the children’s kitchen, with a particular focus on improoooving (get it?) our baking skills!
We have learned to bake biscuits, scones, and bread — measuring, mixing and kneading. It has brought such joy that we are now baking a loaf a day to share during morning toast time. Today’s creation? A cinnamon and date loaf — made with many helping hands.
Our St. Paul’s Promise, “I can belong and contribute to a group,” comes to life during our collaborative baking sessions, the true recipe for success is not just flour and yeast, but turn-taking, cooperation, and sharing – we build confidence, community, and a sense of belonging.
