Welcome!
This term we have welcomed some new friends that have moved up from baby room and have settled in well getting to know our older children and building on the relationships with their keyworkers and family teams.
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I can belong to a group” helps us connect to places and people, routines and resources.
Rain Rain Rain! We love Rain!
There has been quite a lot of rain recently hasn’t there, well we love rain it’s such a great learning opportunity for us such as talking about weather and capacity.
Raining, cloudy, sinking, floating, trickling, full, empty, wet, dry, scooping, pouring, soaking, drip drip dripping.
We watched the water pour from the guttering into our water play area we have set up recently.
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I use all my senses to engage in scientific enquiry” helps us be curious, question, explore and experiment.
Have you noticed we have new red water proofs?
Don’t they open up the capacity for children to get immersed in the play!
We are really getting used to the routine of putting these on when exploring the water play or being outside on rainy days.

Cooking
In EY2 we like to make use of our lovely Kitchen.
This term we have made flapjacks, ice lollies and berry muffins.
Cooking is great for practising our resilience and turn taking skills, we are watching and waiting for our turn to add or mix. We learn from our peers around us and work together in the process.
The skills we use during cooking are hand eye coordination and building up strength in our hands.
Pour, measure , scoop, squeeze, wait, wonder, watch.
We are becoming able and confident bakers.
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I know I am a great learner” helps us build Learning Power! Full of imitation and independence, collaboration and cooperation, resilience and resourcefulness.

In the Garden
We all learn differently, don’t we?
Whilst some of us love to spend time in the kitchen others flourish by spending time outside.
We have been in the garden and the allotment, helping to pull weeds and get it ready for planting.
Whilst we were there, we got distracted by snails and worms!
We gathered old weeds and plants for the snails to crawl on whilst we took a closer look. We know that earth worms help to get our soil healthy.
Tamar talks to us all about the benefits of insects in looking after our allotment and plants.
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I connect with the wider world” helps us connect with nature and explore the world right outside our window!
