Into the Woods!
Blue Group have been exploring the woods this term getting out and about. Puddle-jumping, tree-climbing, trail-running, sculpture-spotting….we are explorers!
The children have been exploring the woods with all their senses and connecting with the world around them.
Noticing changes in weather and experiencing the joy of running the wind across a field, hearing raindrops under the canopy of the trees, enjoying the sunshine as they notice signs of Spring.
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I am a big bold mover!” helps the children explore moving their bodies in different ways. In the woods, the children have been climbing trees, crawling, scrambling up and down ditches, and taking risks.
We are resilient explorers!
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I connect with the wider world” helps children respond and communicate about their community and experiences.
Blue Group have been mapping their journey, talking about their own experiences and noticing themselves within the locality…developing their sense of place.

Planting for Spring
We’ve been getting ready for spring in Nursery 1 by planting beans. You might have noticed them germinating on our window?
Growing in pots on the shelves?
The children have planted their beans and been observing their growth and changes over the past few weeks…documenting their observations in their bean books with drawings and marks.
Our St Paul’s Promise “I can use all my senses to engage in scientific enquiry” helps children to develop their curiosity and care for the natural world…respecting and protecting it…thinking about where our food comes from…observing change over time and noticing how this connects to the world around us.

Brilliant Books!
We are authors!
Inspired by our collaborative non-fiction book about Birds…we started to create our own stories…stories about animals…meteors…dinosaurs…families…
The children have been making marks to show the illustrations and words in their stories…sometimes asking adults to scribe for them as we share the pen between more experienced and less experienced writers.
Our St Paul’s Promise “I use marks to communicate meaning” helps children to develop their author’s voice…realising that the marks that they make mean something! And can be shared with others!
It’s a magical moment realising that the marks you make communicate something to another person.
Our children’s creativity and determination to share their stories shines through as they build their phonic knowledge and understanding of letter-type shapes.
