Chop Chop Bananas!

We love promoting independence and helping children know how capable and competent they are as learners to do things for themselves.

In Baby Room 1 we have been supporting children to confidently explore their space, their room, their resources.
And helping them do things for themselves, like prepare their snacks!

Our Curriculum Promise “I can be healthy and make healthy choices for my body” means that snack time is full of healthy foods to explore, prepare and try out.

We wonder what your favourite fruit is?

We wonder if you have tried some unusual and unfamiliar fruits?

Mathematical Movers!

Climbing, crawling, running, jumping!

We love to Whoosh! Boing! Roly-poly! Push and Pull!

In the baby rooms we know how much Movement Matters!

(We say half of the time in our arms – full of cuddles, affection and attachment – and half of the time on the floor – being BIG BOLD MOVERS!)

Supporting our youngest children to explore, experiment and enjoy the movement of their bodies is essential for all parts of their learning and development isn’t it – their brain, their muscles, their self-esteem and confidence!

We are really supporting the children to enjoy pushing and pulling, crawling and climbing, building up core strength and balance.

And movement is so MATHEMATICAL!

Helping children move in, under and through supports their mathematical development – their SPATIAL REASONING.

Spatial reasoning involves our interpretation of how things, including ourselves, relate to each another and our spatial environment.

We use it every day to navigate in and around our environment.

We’re sure they’re asking themselves “will I fit in here?”

I Know I am a Great Learner!

We are BUILDING LEARNING POWER everyday!

And love the messiness of learning!

We are keen for children to understand what powerful, capable, autonomous, creative unique learners they are.

And whatever their age, we narrate and comment upon their learning using words that describe their incredible attributes and characteristics of effective learning, such as PERSEVERANCE, CAPITALISING, RESILIENCE, MAKING CONNECTIONS.

All of this supports children’s lifelong learning.

So here we are, getting messy, painting with all of our bodies, capitalising on the things around us, learning to use new tools, explore new experiences, persevere in printing, painting and mark making!

I am a Gardener! I am a Scientist!

It’s so important to get messy in play isn’t it!

And to use all our senses to explore the world around us and make connections between all of our different experiences.

Food and gardening are great ways to develop our curiosity, our scientific enquiry.

In Baby Room 1 we have been using all our senses, first-hand experiences in exploring nature and natural materials to feel, smell, touch, taste (!) to find out, to observe, to question.

We wonder what plants and foods you’ve been growing, eating, finding?

We wonder what can you see, smell, taste, hear, touch?
