Dear Parents/Carers,

Unfortunately, we have to close our Nursery School again on Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July due to the National Teachers Strike.

This will affect our provision for 3-4 year-olds only, who are based in our Nursery School.

We have tried very hard to look at all options to stay open to all, but in order to maintain legal staff-to-child ratios and keep our children safe, we are only able to offer a limited number of spaces on these days as we will only have a skeleton staff team at work.

These limited spaces will only be offered if a child/family meets any of the criteria below:

  • A child with SEN Support Plan and/or EHCP plan
  • Parents and families who work in Emergency Services (such as health)
  • Families with other specific needs

Please email a request for a space to stpaulsncc@bristol-schools.uk.

We will confirm if you have been allocated a space by the end of the day on Friday, 30th June 2023.

I apologise for causing inconvenience to you and your child. Closing to children at the end of the year is the last thing we would choose to do.

However, we do respect our Teachers’ decision to strike, particularly as any teachers pay award that has been put on the table so far is unfunded.

An unfunded pay award would have a devastating impact on our small school budget, which is already in deficit.

Thankyou for your understanding in this matter.

Kind Regards

Lucy Driver
Executive Headteacher
