Make, Bake, Cook Cake
We are curious.
We are capable.
We are collaborative!
So full of absorption and perseverance – the children have been mixing and making, delighted in noticing the changes in ingredients as they mix them altogether delighted in their achievements as bakers and cooks!
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I know I am a great learner” supports children to collaborate with others, communicating ideas, sharing resources, taking turns.
Children have shown incredible exploratory drive – exploring with ALL their senses – YUM! Tastes good!
Mathematical Mark Making
We are mathematicians!
We are mark makers!
We are thinking maths!
Mathematical Graphics describes how the children have been using their own marks and drawing and writing and representations to explore and communicate their mathematical thinking.
These graphics include scribble-marks, drawings, writing, tallys, numbers and inventions!
We are mathematicians!
Being Together, Being in a Group
We are connected!
We are collaborating!
We are contributing!
Our St. Paul’s Promise “I can belong and contribute to a group” is all about CONNECTION, feeling CAPABLE, knowing that what we say and do COUNTS, and having the COURAGE to take risks at belonging to the group.
I connect.
I count.
I am capable.
I have courage.
We call these the FOUR Cs.
And they are oh-so-important in developing children’s well-being, self-esteem and sense of self within their social world.
By offering children our warm and consistent presence, spending time with them, connecting up through “islands of intimacy” – really noticing and acknowledge all their brilliant many-selves – we are empowering them to contribute and belong.
We are connected!
