Out in the World!
We love to be out in our world.
There are so many things to notice and think and talk about aren’t there?
Surfaces and materials
Signs and lines
Machines and technology
Space and routes
We love being out in the world!
We can use our body in all sorts of ways
To walk and run
To stretch and reflect
To point out and up and down
To push and start and stop
We have a saying that the curriculum is “inside the child and outside the window”…
And our St. Paul’s Promise “I can connect with the wider world” supports us to connect, reflect and contribute our many
communities, our many experiences, out many worlds.
We love to be out in our world!

What Makes Me, Me?
As we have welcomed new children and new families into St. Paul’s, we have been thinking about belonging.
We have been thinking about unique children, unique learners.
We have been thinking about our sense of self.
We have been thinking about connection, contribution, community.
Our Baby Provision is full of love, care, nurture and wonder.
Our Baby Practice is reflective, researchful practice.
Have you seen our research board?
We have been using
Bodies and books
Songs and photographs
Talk and mark making
To help children connect with themselves and others.
We have welcomed and played with new parents and families together
To listen and learn together
To celebrate and share each unique child, unique family.
And documented and reflected on our learning.
Have you seen our Documentation Book on Provocations?
Come and take a look!

Food Shopping
Real first-hand experiences are really important for learning and development.
Complex imaginary play is too!
So is lots of talk between children and adults.
We have been doing lots of talk, pretending and doing real things!
We have been pretending with food, shopping for food, cooking with food.
Pretend and imaginative play helps children rehearse, make sense of and make links to lots of their experiences.
They can take on roles, explore new language and develop that o-so-important ‘bounce’ of ‘give-and-take’ in shared social interactions.
And it helps them prepare and rehearse for the real experiences themselves.
We’ve been shopping and cooking in our Home Corner.
And we’ve been shopping and cooking in the real world too!
Into the buggies and out to the shops!
Have we got our shopping list?
Do we remember what the ingredients are?
What shall we put in our fruit salad?
Have we got our money?
Have we got our shopping bag?
Off we go!
And when we get back we CHOP CHOP CHOP.
And MUNCH MUNCH MUNCH!
We wonder what your favourite foods are?
Do you go shopping with your family?
