Belonging Baby

We have been thinking about Belonging in Baby Room haven’t we?

It’s been our ‘research question’ and we’ve been really interested in how the babies connect with each other, connect with the Nursery, connect with home and here, connect to their many worlds!

Children have been arriving to music they listen to at home – helping them connect and belong, make links and making movements!

Its amazing to watch the babies recognise the sound and songs as they arrive – moving and responding to them in their brilliantly unique ways.

We’ve also been curious to see how children have been connecting to their community and locality, showing interest and curiosity to places known and familiar, novel and new.

Have you seen Lara discuss Belonging and our researchful practice on our Instagram?

Have you read all about the ‘Crucial C’s’?

The Crucial C’s are a construct developed by Lew and Bettner (1996) to explain how Individual Psychology views the needs of the individual. They can be used to explain human behaviour.

The Crucial C’s are necessary to Mental Health. Feeling that we connect, that we are capable, that we count and have courage will go a long way to enhance a positive attitude about life and make it worth living.

THE CRUCIAL C’S

If I have the Crucial C’s
I feel secure. I can reach out, make friends. I co-operate.CONNECT I believe I belong
I feel competent. I have self-control and self-discipline. I assume responsibility. I am self-reliant.CAPABLE I believe I can do it
I feel valuable. I can make a difference. I contribute.COUNT I believe I matter
I feel hopeful. I am willing to try. I am resilient.COURAGE I believe I can handle what comes

We Wish you a Merry Christmas!

Of course part of belonging is being known and loved, heard and claimed… each unique child seen and understood

Including their own rich cultural lives.

Our St. Paul’s Promise “I know my own uniqueness and embrace diversity” supports children to explore different cultures, communities and celebrations.

We have been immersed in the magic of Christmas.

We have creative, playful, musical, celebratory!

We wonder what celebrations, festivals and family events you celebrate?

Would you come and share them with us?
